President Emeritus and Professor of Faith and Public Life Dr. Richard Mouw recently wrote an article discussing the importance of Christianity Today in his life as the publication celebrates its 60th anniversary. The article, featured on First Things, reflects on the role Christianity Today played in Dr. Mouw’s life and its catalyzing effect on his pursuit of theological academia.
“When [Carl F.H.] Henry referred to the need for evangelical scholarship, however, as well as to the importance of supporting a network of evangelical scholars working in various academic settings around the world,“ says Mouw, “I had a clear sense that this was a different kind of voice than those I was accustomed to hearing in my present spiritual environs. I doubt that I had ever before come across a serious call for a coupling of ‘evangelical’ and ‘scholarship.’”
As Dr. Mouw notes, Christianity Today is a vanguard of evangelical scholarship, and we are honored to have many voices from our community published in their pages. Congratulations to the Christianity Today team for your decades of guiding public dialogues of faith and culture, and we look forward to the next sixty years.
