Description

The Lead Childcare Coordinator supervises a group/team of Childcare Workers, providing activities for children while their parents are attending a program offered through Residential Community or other Seminary offices. Programs for which the Lead Childcare Coordinator will be expected to provide programming and oversight for are: weekly marriage support classes, bible studies, quarterly Parent Night Out events, Residential community training days including a yearly weekend retreat, and other seminary wide special one –off events. Programs may be during the evenings or weekends, as well as weekdays. By providing safety and stimulation for the children, the Lead Childcare Coordinator will offer integral support to the seminary’s programs and mission.

Essential Functions

  • Reports to Team and Office Operations Coordinator before and after duties, reporting any incidents
  • Planning all activities and organizing the logistical set-up for a childcare event
  • Overseeing and directing the team of the Childcare Workers and assigning children to their care and room
  • Oversee the registration of the children, assuring that the parent has signed the Permission Slip for Occasional Childcare and completed a Child Information Card
  • Direct the other Childcare Workers and children in appropriate activities during the period they are watching the children
  • Oversee supervision, safety, and hygiene of the children at all times. This may include changing diapers, or assisting with toileting and cleanliness. No worker is to be allowed in the restrooms with a child on his or her own
  • Show sensitivity to parents’ requests, and try to keep them informed as much as possible for the good of the child. Field Parent questions regarding any of Fuller policies, directing them to appropriate offices/personnel or to the Team and Office Operations Coordinator/Director
  • Be responsible for and oversee the dropping off and picking up of children. Make sure the parent signs their child in and out and keep track on the roster. If the parent is not able to pick them up, person(s) authorized to pick up the child must be written in to the child information card, signed by the parent ahead of time. Strict adherence to only releasing children to designated authorized persons must be checked. A request for picture identification of authorized persons may be required if deemed necessary. The Lead Childcare Coordinator must be willing to wait after hours of the program if a parent has not picked up a child
  • Must be able to respond appropriately in case of an emergency. Emergency contact information for children is to be on the Child Information Card
  • Responsible for filing/completing incident reports for any unusual events and inform the parents directly
  • Required events for this position: Commencement (June), Residential Community weekend Retreat (August), Quarterly Training evenings (Fall, Winter, Spring), BeST day Training (May)

Secondary Functions

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Team and Office Operations coordinator
  • Ensure that the restrooms and rooms are clean before and after each scheduled time of care
  • All toys and play items must be stored away appropriately
  • Report any maintenance problems directly to Building Services

Requirements

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years experience or education in childcare and child development preferred
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Sincere care for children and enjoyment in being with them
  • Lifting and carrying children as necessary
  • Ability to supervise other workers and organize large numbers of children to create a safe and stimulating environment, with stimulating, age appropriate activities
  • Ability to directly supervise children and provide boundaries from unsafe activities or environments
