The Project Assistant helps to ensure the smooth operation of library functions. This position offers support to the various library departments by helping to complete short-term projects in each area, as determined and assigned each week by the Director of Operations.

Essential Functions

  • The Project Assistant is primarily responsible for providing support for a variety of projects related to the function of the David Allan Hubbard Library. Projects will come from the following areas:

    • Administration
      • Help with setup and cleanup for events
      • Provide hospitality to library guests, including greeting, answering basic questions about the library, and helping guests to access necessary areas of the library
      • Deliver office supplies to the department(s) that has requested them

    • Archives
      • Assist the assistant archivist with data entry related to the processing of an archival collectio
      • Help assistant archivist to move and/or shift archive materials

    • Information Access Service
      • Provide backup support to Collection Management Assistants by helping to shelve books during peak seasons

    • Library Systems
      • Assist the library systems librarian with data entry and updating related to the library's online catalog and database
      • Provide assistance with the improvement of faculty webpages as hosted on the library's website

    • Periodicals
      • Assist serials librarian with data entry
    • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 1-2 years experience in customer service is required
  • 1-2 years library experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Library of Congress system is desired
  • Must be able to sort alpha-numerically
  • Basic computer skills are a must
  • 3+ years experience with Word and Excel is required
  • Must be able to work well with a lack of routine
  • Strong attention to detail is required
  • Able to push loaded book carts (maximum about 300 lbs)
  • Must have Federal Work Study eligibility

Must be eligible for Federal Work Study. Federal Work-Study positions are open only to qualified U.S. Citizens and permanent residents whose eligibility to participate in the Work-Study program has been determined in advance by the seminary's Student Financial Services office
