David McKechnie, president of the Texas Theological Foundation and founding director of the Houston campus, opened the program with introductory comments. Special music was offered by noted Los Angeles tenor Steve Amerson and concert pianist Linda McKechnie. Jim Hunt, chair of the Texas Theological Foundation and a Fuller trustee, shared the story of Fuller Texas and its remarkable growth.
"Fuller Theological Seminary: Shaping Students Today for Tomorrow" was the theme of President Labberton's address. Larry Coulter, pastor and Fuller Texas Advisory Board member, interviewed two current students from the campus: Christyn Soland, adult ministries director at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, and spoken word artist Ledum Manadom, a native of Nigeria.
The dinner was preceded by a private reception for alumni hosted by Dr. Labberton and Fuller's Office of Alumni and Church Relations.
"The evening's events were a resounding success," commented Michael Murray, regional director for Fuller Texas. "It was a great time of fellowship and discussion, and contributed significantly to our strong base of support for the Houston campus. I am deeply grateful for all who are partnering with us."
