Spiritual Formation through Touchstone

Blogger Grace RenTo me, the Touchstone class is like a spiritual formation class. Firstly, it helps me to look at my past as to how God has been working in my life. The great achievements of my five years’ full-time ministry in China from 2011-2015 were highly based on God’s five years of cultivation/formation in me through tremendous hardship and suffering from 2006-2010. It was indeed a good example of how “vocation is formed not found.”

Secondly, our professor Dr. Cormode always leads us to look at the human condition in depth. This happens through both his personal experiences of God as well as various case studies using the “Practical Theology Cycle.” The PT cycle teaches us to present problems, to figure out the deep issues, as well as to explore the spiritual/ theological issues behind the scenery. Lastly, the Core Clarity Strengths analysis helps examine me in a holistic way in preparation for my future vocation. It intrigues me to think about how my talents work the best for my vocation after Fuller Seminary.
