    Have you ever wondered why there are so many translations of the Bible, and why they sometimes seem to disagree?  Would you like to be better able to figure out what is going on in the Biblical texts?  Have you ever wondered why the Biblical writers used certain words at certain times and places in the texts?  Have you ever found yourself frustrated with a passage, and wondering "What in the world were they thinking???"?   Hebrew is an incredible tool for exploring and searching out the vast storehouse of riches contained in Holy Scripture, and LG 502 is the place to start learning it. 
  • NE502: Exegetical Method and Practice

    Have you ever read a passage of Scripture in your native language and asked yourself, "There is so much more there" but did not have the knowledge of where to begin?  NE502 will equip people with the necessary skills to study a passage in the Greek New Testament with the goal of mining the text to attain a deeper understanding.

    Does it say something important that Christians were known as “atheists” in its first centuries? Why are forms of worship and belief developed more than 1400 years ago still so central to us? How did the early congregations handle “diversity” and “right belief”? Why did the desert become so central to Christian spirituality? Did the eventual “triumph” of Christianity in the Roman Empire come to represent a loss for the Church? Here’s the class that deals with these questions—and more. 
  • CN535: Grief, Loss, Death and Dying

    Pastors are spiritual care “first responders.”  They go where loss and grief are the greatest.  How do ministers know what to say and do?  How do pastors live with the stress and the pain of others?  How is God present even in “Sheol?”  This course is designed to assist those who show Christ’s love in the hardest of times.
  • PR525: Foundations of Biblical Preaching

    Preaching is an exciting enterprise as the Word of God comes to life in the preacher and the congregation. At the same time, preaching strikes fear in the hearts of many. This course seeks to address the fears and unleash the excitement of proclaiming the good news of God’s saving grace, even for those who are not serving in a church or who have little previous experience in public speaking.
