Degrees

Master of Divinity (MDiv)

144 Quarter Units (36 courses + 4 unit Internship):
The Master of Divinity degree is a comprehensive graduate theological program covering a wide range of general and specialized subjects, designed to prepare students for full-time service in the church of Jesus Christ.

Typical Students
Students in this degree program often pursue it in order to meet ordination requirements, to prepare for doctoral studies, or out of a desire to be better prepared for a church or parachurch ministry.

Master of Theology (MAT)

96 Quarter Units (24 courses):
The MA in Theology degree is a two-year graduate theological program covering a wide range of general and specialized subjects.

This degree prepares students for leadership in a wide range of vocations by cultivating skills in the study and interpretation of Scripture. It enables students to fashion a systematic theological framework and to develop an understanding of the origin and growth of the Christian tradition in all its richness and diversity.

Typical Students
Students in this program desire to be well prepared biblically and theologically in a very flexible program to serve more effectively in the church or the marketplace.

Master of Theology and Ministry (MATM)

96 Quarter Units (23 courses + 4 unit practicum):
The MA in Theology and Ministry degree - now offered with flexible study options - is designed for those who wish to develop a deeper biblical and theological understanding, spiritual maturity, and cultural literacy for ministry in churches, parachurch or nonprofit organizations, and other vocational settings. The degree provides excellent preparation for those called to be on the pastoral staff of a church or denomination that does not require the Master of Divinity degree as a qualification for ordained ministry; and it can also serve as a prerequisite for the Doctor of Ministry program. The curriculum covers the basic areas of theology, biblical studies, and ministry, combined with supervised ministry in a local church.

Flexible plans to study allow you to complete the MATM according to your needs.

MA in Christian Leadership (MACL)

72 Quarter Units (18 courses)
The MA in Christian Leadership degree is a program designed to provide graduate theological education for women and men called to non-ordained leadership roles. It seeks to develop lay leadership informed both theologically and practically and provides an opportunity for those who are currently in service to enhance their ministry and leadership skills.

This degree is designed to give lay leaders a strong biblical, theological and ministry foundation while providing areas of specialized study for particular areas of ministry.

Typical Students
Students who pursue the MA in Christian Leadership degree typically look to be well grounded in ministry training but may not have an interest in ordained ministry. These students may also work in churches that do not require a seminary education for ordination.

MA in Intercultural Studies (MAICS)

96 Quarter Units (22 courses + 8 unit practicum):
The MA in Intercultural Studies (MAICS)is a two year program for mid-career missionaries and international church and mission leaders. This degree exposes students to new possibilities for missiological praxis so that they meet the challenge of contextualizing the gospel in an increasingly global community. In addition, it enables practitioners to pursue coursework in one area of missiological study, culminating in a reflective and research-based writing project.

MA in Global Leadership (MAGL)

72 Quarter Units (18 courses):
The Master of Arts in Global Leadership (MAGL) allows men and women, who have at least four years of leadership experience and are actively engaged in a significant leadership role in a church or parachurch organization, to stay fully engaged in their ministries while studying mainly online.

Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies (MAICS)

72 Quarter Units (16 courses):

The MA in Intercultural Studies (MAICS)-now offered with flexible study options-prepares students for ministry or service in cross-cultural or multicultural contexts. Students will learn how to study and work in different cultures, and will become aware of theological, biblical, sociological and anthropological issues that relate to work in different contexts. This degree is intended for students with varied levels of cross-cultural exposure, and emphasizes both scholarship and praxis. MAICS students gain the foundational skills to pursue further studies or research opportunities, or to work in cross-cultural settings within the United States and around the world.

Master of Arts in Global Leadership

72 Quarter Units (16 courses):

Pastors, missionaries, and non-profit leaders in the MAGL learn together (online and face-to-face), sharpening, strengthening and encouraging one another as a cohort, or community of learning, under the tutelage of seasoned faculty and support staff. This unique learning experience is a hallmark of the program.

This program includes a 9-course cohort sequence which covers character development, biblical theology of mission, contemporary culture, missional church, leadership training and organizational dynamics; and 9 electives which provide the opportunity to further enhance biblical, theological and cultural understandings. MAGL meets the prerequisite courses for the Doctor of Missiology degree.

Certificate in Anglican Studies

24 Quarter Units (6 courses)

Fuller now offers a six-course, fully online Certificate in Anglican Studies. If you are preparing for ordination, considering discernment or simply want to deepen your understanding of Anglicanism/Episcopalianism, this program may be right for you. Taught by a team of scholars from around the world, courses will emphasize the practical implications of Anglican Studies as well as their academic basis. There is no requirement or expectation that participants must be Anglicans/Episcopalians, and classes to date have enjoyed an ecumenical membership.
