MDiv, Class of 2013
After finishing formal studies at Fuller Theological Seminary, I am now more often asked: How can one work in both law and ministry?
This is a great question and challenge; yet, my answer usually invites further consideration: How can one not?
Perhaps failing to integrate them would be most unwise.
Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” John 6:29
While forming Nelson Law Group PLLC in 2006, John 6:29 pounded in my head and heart, almost like a birth pang. It helped me more fully understand our work. Since He is the Truth, maybe our work is: believing in the Truth.
I am not able to fully express my enormous gratitude for the many opportunities people have given me to encourage and help others. It is a profound honor and privilege to serve and help as a friend, brother and pastoral counselor at law. Thank you.
The joys and responsibilities which accompany the integration and whole-hearted sharing of our gifts are both humbling and empowering. It seems, in sharing our joys, they are doubled; in sharing our burdens, they are halved.
Called to love and share the Lord with all my heart, soul, mind and strength; I am also blessed with a desire to encourage and help you and others, however I may best be able. These unique gifts of legal and pastoral counsel are to be shared and scattered.
Thanks again for every opportunity.
