A little about Charles...

I am a specialist in the interface of Christianity and Islam. Much of my research, writing, and teaching is on the theology and history of Christian-Muslim relations and dialogue. My doctoral research focused on polemic and the formation of religious identity by medieval Christians in Islamic Spain.

I also have broader interests in Christian--non-Christian engagement. As a result, I have published widely on topics ranging from religious persecution to contemporary issues in inter-religious dialogue and comparative religion. In addition, I maintain interests in World Christianities, contextual theology, and peace studies.
