Senior Pastor, First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu, Kaneohe, Hawaii
Dan Chun has been the senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu since 1994. Dan received his MDiv and DMin degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary, an MA in Cinema Production from University of Southern California School of Performing Arts, and a BS in Communications from Lewis and Clark College, Portland, Oregon. He is an award-winning filmmaker and former TV news reporter for the CBS affiliate in Honolulu.
Dan is the cofounder and chairman of the board of Hawaiian Islands Ministries (HIM) that has been in existence since 1983. HIM has trained more than 60,000 church/nonprofit leaders in Hawaii, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the Philippines. He has been privileged to speak at international and national Christian conferences, including four years of Promise Keepers stadium events. Dan is a contributing editor for Leadership magazine and author of How to Pick a Spouse (Regal, 2014). He is a rabid fan of Compassion International and the Alpha Course.
Pastor Dan previously was an associate pastor at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church (San Francisco Bay area) from 1985 to 1994, and prior to that, an associate pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu from 1980 to 1985.
He and his wife, Pam, have three children: Noelle (San Francisco), Dylan (Los Angeles), and Quinn (New York), and two dogs, Max (Yorkshire Terrier/poodle) and Molly (Shih Tzu/Pomeranian).
