Career Summary
Richard R. Kannwischer serves as the lead pastor of the 3,200-member St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach. A native Texan, Richard graduated cum laude with a business degree from Trinity University, where he currently serves as a member of the board of trustees. He also earned a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. He served as a member of the board of trustees for Princeton Theological Seminary from 2010 to 2012. He received his doctorate from Fuller Seminary and is currently serving the school as a member of the board of trustees. Richard met his wife, Kelly Beckham Kannwischer, at Princeton Theological Seminary. Kelly currently serves as vice president for university advancement at Vanguard University.

Following seminary, Richard served as an associate pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Houston and as senior pastor of the Central Presbyterian Church of Summit, New Jersey. In Summit, he led the 1,200-member congregation through the wake of the September 11th tragedy. He then served as the senior pastor at First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio prior to coming to Newport Beach in the fall of 2009. Kelly and Richard spend much of their time chasing their two precious daughters, Danica and Ashby. Richard’s other active pursuits include snow skiing, hiking, and playing golf.
