Fuller Seminary is pleased to announce that Irene Neller has been appointed to the new position of Vice President for Communications and Marketing, effective September 1, 2013.
Neller comes to the role from Biola University where she spent 26 years leading a highly successful, award-winning, and results-driven comprehensive communications and marketing program. In 1996, she championed an historic change in redefining the function of marketing at Biola and served on the president's council. Irene has also served as chair and member of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities' (CCCU) national committee for communication officers.
"We are very excited to have Irene join us here at Fuller," said Provost C. Doug McConnell. "She has a proven record of creativity, vision, and success in her leadership, and I am confident that she will further advance Fuller's strategic communication efforts in this newly created role."
Irene graduated from Bethany University in 1987 with a BA in Communications, and earned her MA in Communications from California State University Fullerton in 1996. She and her husband, Brett, have two sons and have been married 27 years.
"I am delighted and honored that the most notable seminary in the world has selected me to serve in a role of leadership," Neller said. "I stand ready to assist and lead Fuller in its efforts to develop a comprehensive communications and marketing program to strengthen the seminary's position in higher education as we respond to the challenging marketplace of seminary education."
Neller noted that strategic communications is central to successfully sharing the mission and story of Fuller and all of its schools, programs, and centers located around the U.S. and the world.
"We will work towards leveraging advances in new marketing media and technology to increase our reach and broaden our influence for global outreach and Kingdom impact," she said. "I ask that the community continue to pray for all of us in the communications and marketing division as we seek God's direction, discernment and wisdom in our planning and strive to be Christ's witnesses to the world through our work."
Fuller has also established a new position that will coordinate all seminary events. Victoria Smith has been named new Director of Events, effective September 23, 2013. She comes to Fuller with 8 years of events coordination experience at Biola University, where she served under Irene Neller.
Victoria is a graduate of Biola University (2005) with a BA in English, and she has a number of close ties to the Fuller community. Her husband of five years, Steve, is a Fuller student currently pursuing an MA in Theology, and her father and grandfather are also Fuller alums.
