Aaron Graham is completing a doctorate at Fuller and currently serves as lead pastor of the District Church in Washington, D.C.
Graham and his church began DC127 to recruit and support foster and adoptive parents. Graham is working with Child and Family Services and D.C. churches to mobilize the community to participate in foster care and adoption through mentoring, advocacy and support for foster and adoptive families. Washington D.C. currently has 300 children waiting for adoption and 600 churches.
"We thought, wow, if one in two churches helped support a family, there wouldn't be any children on a wait list to be fostered or adopted but rather there would be families who are waiting to foster or adopt," Graham explains. "We want to change who waits."
Graham will speak later this week as part of President Labberton's academic symposium, "Windows on the Church in the World: A U.S. and Global Panel."
