This position is the first contact students have with Student Financial Services either by phone, mail, or in person. This person answers incoming calls, provides basic financial aid and student account information to new and returning students, schedules appointments, processes incoming mail, processes student account payments, and serves as a support person for the professional staff.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains current knowledge of complex policies governing the administration of institutional financial aid for the three Pasadena schools and regional campuses as well as federal financial aid and student accounts at Fuller
  • Applies knowledge of policies and procedures to provide correct answers to simple to moderately complex inquiries regarding financial aid and student accounts. Refers complex questions to counselors and administrators
  • Is primarily responsible for answering a heavy volume of incoming calls and assisting walk-in visitors. Interprets questions, provides answers, and/or dispatches calls to appropriate parties. Demonstrates patience and conflict resolution skills as needed
  • Corresponds with students and others via email and written letters
  • Prepares all outgoing mail and opens and distributes all incoming mail to appropriate areas
  • Researches simple to moderately complex student account payment inquiries
  • Receives and downloads all Financial Aid Application Packets using a multistep process
  • Processes all incoming forms and materials, checking each for completion
  • Enters student charges and payments in Banner computer system
  • Updates student addresses as necessary
  • Performs filing as necessary
  • Participates in quarterly student registration
  • Special projects as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of customer service, retail or banking experience
  • Moderate computer skills, including data entry experience
  • Some accounting background preferred
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team as well as independently
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, highly diversified environment
  • Strong math skills
  • Service oriented with the ability to successfully resolve conflicts under sometimes stressful conditions
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Sense of humor
  • Must be able to work with heavy phone and computer use
  • Long periods of sitting as well as bending and stooping required
  • Occasional heavy lifting of up 25 lbs.

Must be eligible for Federal Work Study. Federal Work-Study positions are open only to qualified U.S. Citizens and permanent residents whose eligibility to participate in the Work-Study program has been determined in advance by the seminary's Student Financial Services office
