Addiction, abuse and trauma are the most effective and powerful weapons
in the arsenal of the enemies of God's Kingdom. They are the reasons
why many people find it difficult to receive the love and grace of God
in deep and meaningful ways. The long-term goal of the Fuller Institute
for Recovery Ministry is to help the Christian community become a safer
and more helpful place for people struggling with problems of this
kind.
To achieve this goal the Institute seeks:
- To provide specialized training to pastors, missionaries,
chaplains, and lay leaders who seek to be actively involved in recovery
ministry.
- To be of direct service to ministers and other religious professionals who struggle with addiction by supporting them in the recovery process.
- To engage in the theological reflection and biblical studies that
provide the essential foundations for practical ministry in this area.
- To develop the kind of evidence-based research that is critical
to the long-term health and maturity of recovery ministry within the Christian community.
