Tuition: The current tuition rate for a 4-unit Master¹s Level course in the MAGL is $1,460.00. The program consists of 18 courses, usually studied at the rate of one course per quarter over a period of 4-5 years, which results in a total of $26,280.00 USD. Students should estimate approximately $1000 for each of the their two-week on campus seminar room and board [two, 2-week seminars for a total of $2000]

Early Application Deadline (Fall) : While the MAGL currently does not launch a summer start cohort, we seek to honor the applications that come in early for fall cohort. Rather than make those applicants wait across the summer before receiving an admission decision, the MAGL now offers an early application deadline whereby applicants can know prior to the start of summer quarter if they are accepted into the MAGL program. This affords Special or Probation admit students who require the ST511 course to enroll for it in summer and, upon successful completion of that course, be in a position to start with a cohort .

1. What do I need to access the Online courses that make up a large part of the Master of Arts in Global Leadership program?

MAGL students must be able to do a majority of their coursework online through the internet, thus students should have reliable high speed internet access. Fuller utilizes Moodle as it's Content Management System for online courses; we strongly suggest using Firefox, the standard browser for Moodle, for optimum results.

2. How many hours of work do Fuller Online courses require?

The normal expectation for study in a master's degree is that for every hour spent in class listening to lectures and taking course notes, a student will be required to spend three hours reading, researching, and writing.  Fuller Online courses in the MAGL program follow similar expectations.  An example of the workload that could be required in a Fuller Online course can be found in the document "Time Commitments and Assignment Load."

3. What accommodations are available during the MAGL intensive seminars?

For seminars held in Colorado Springs, various venues are used. Some have housing in the same location as the seminar classroom. Contact the MAGL office in Colorado Springs for information on where a particular seminar may be held: 719-636-9700.

For seminars held in Pasadena, a limited number of rooms are blocked for each MAGL Seminar at the Guest Center at Fuller Seminary, a few minutes' walk from the Fuller campus in Pasadena. Students must contact the Guest Center individually to confirm room availability within the block and make payment arrangements. Rooms in the block are on a first-come, first-served basis.   For contact information, consult The Guest Center at Fuller Seminary.

4. Are MAGL cohort seminars offered in other areas?

Not at this point. In the future, we may make MAGL seminars available at other locations.  As the Master of Arts in Global Leadership program develops, we expect eventually to include cohorts made up of students from specific regions of the U.S. and other areas of the world.  Intensive seminars for such cohorts would be held at central locations as close as possible to a majority of students. 

5. How should I apply for the MAGL if I am not able to start study with the next cohort?

All applicants should indicate the academic quarter in which they wish to start their MAGL studies.  This will be taken into account in processing applications.

6. Can I begin my studies at Fuller before MAGL applications are processed for the cohort that I hope to join?

Yes, potential applicants may apply to study at Fuller Seminary for the Certificate of Christian Studies (CCS, a six-course, 24-unit program).  If they are later accepted into the Master of Arts in Global Leadership, applicable courses they have completed may be transferred into the MAGL program. It should be noted that CCS students are not eligible for Federal Financial Aid.

7. May I take additional courses that fit the program while I study in the cohort portion of the MAGL program?

MAGL students are allowed to study other Fuller Online and Individualized Distance Learning courses simultaneously with scheduled cohort classes.  However, a student may take no more than four Individualized Distance Learning courses or Direct Study courses for credit in the MAGL program.

8. What happens if I begin MAGL study and then need to drop out of my cohort?

MAGL students program are required to remain in their original learning groups to complete all courses in the cohort sequence of the MAGL degree program.  However, a student who drops out of the original cohort and desires to continue MAGL studies will be considered to join a future cohort group.  If unable to continue with the MAGL altogether, another option for such a student is to apply to a different degree at Fuller Seminary.

Student who take extended leaves of absence of eight academic quarters or longer will be required to re-apply to Fuller Seminary for reinstatement, per standard seminary policy. 

9.  When can I begin work on a MAGL degree?

With the enormous interest in this program, we have close to 30 Master of Arts in Global Leadership cohorts studying together.  As a result, we open a new cohort most every academic quarter (NOTE: rarely are cohorts started in a summer quarter).

10.  How long does the program take?

The length of the program depends on the individual.  The program can be completed between two and ten years of study.  (Most students prefer to take 5 years to finish their degrees.)  To get a sense of the suggested timeframe for degree completion, have a look at course schedules for existing and future cohorts.

11.  What refund is available if I choose to drop a class?

100% Refund is given if a Drop is processed by Friday of the 1st week of class.

75% Refund is given if a Drop is processed by Friday of the 2nd week of class.

50% Refund is given if a Drop is processed by Friday of the 3rd week of class.

25% Refund is given if a Drop is processed by Friday of the 4th week of class.

The last day to drop without a refund is Friday of the 5th week of class.

12. Is the MAGL an accredited degree program?

Fuller Theological Seminary is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The MAGL degree is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS). 

13. How many transfer credits, if any, will apply to the MAGL program?

In order for a degree to be considered as coming from a particular institution, half of that degree should be earned at the granting institution.  Given that the core courses of the MAGL consist of 9 courses (36 quarter units; beginning Fall 2010), the MAGL Committee maintains a transfer credit policy that allows for a maximum of 36 quarter units to be transferred into the 72-unit MAGL program.

In order to ensure that a degree, when granted, represents education that is reasonably focused (not acquired a little at a time over an unreasonably long period) and current, all credit applied to the degree must be earned within a certain period of time. For the MAGL, this period has been set at ten years. This includes all credit earned elsewhere and applied to the degree, as well as all credit earned at Fuller. Additionally, the courses need to be intimately related to the degree program; either missional-, theological-, or leadership-oriented.  
  
The process: You will need to inform the MAGL Office that you have courses you want to transfer into the program. If your graduate transcript is not in your application file, you will need to send an official transcript to the MAGL Program Office (sealed in an unopened envelope from your graduate institution). The MAGL Committee will review all transcript requests at some point after you have been accepted into the program.
