Gwen Fleming, MDiv
Executive Director of the Academic Center and Interim Director of Fuller Seminary Northwest
Gwen Fleming came to Fuller Theological Seminary as a student in 1993 and completed an MDiv in 1996. In 1994 she began working part time in the School of Intercultural Studies (then the School of World Mission) and became director of Academic Advising in 1997, where she mastered the details of ever-changing degrees and concentrations and guided students and staff through their course plans and changes. Following administrative reorganization that combined the academic programs and advising offices of the Schools of Theology and Intercultural Studies, Fleming was named executive director of the Academic Center in 2011. In 2014 she was appointed as interim director of the Fuller Northwest regional campus (July 2014–June 2015).
Prior to coming to Fuller, Fleming served for 16 years as a missionary in Africa, Europe, and Asia. Her work included directing the mission’s China program, leading discipleship training programs with field work throughout the world, and managing an orphanage of 350 boys in Somalia. She also founded and directed the School of Biblical Studies (NT) in Malaysia and worked with refugees and the homeless in Hong Kong. Her broad worldwide experience in missions, degree from the School of Theology, and untiring, realistic, yet cheerful management skills equip her well to facilitate the interconnected work of administrators, faculty, staff, and students across Fuller’s schools and programs.
