Master of Arts in Multicultural Ministries in African American Studies

The MA in Multicultural Ministries prepares you for leadership in a wide range of vocations, by cultivating your skills in the study and interpretation of Scripture. In this program, you will gain a foundation in biblical and theological studies, while integrating your studies with the African American culture and community. This is a 96-unit program, comprised of the following:

* Biblical Studies (24 units)
* Theology / Church History (28 units)
* Ministry (12 units)
* Electives (8 units)
* African American Studies / Specialized Requirements (24 units)

The specialized requirements for this degree include courses that are focused on the African American experience throughout the African diaspora. Courses range from Afrocentric Biblical Hermeneutics to Theology and Hip-Hop Culture. The program offers enough flexibility that it can be tailored to your particular interest in the African American experience.

Master of Divinity Degree – African American Studies Concentration

The MDiv with concentration in African American Studies equips you for church leadership and pastoral ministry, particularly in African American congregations. It also provides an excellent academic and biblical foundation for the pursuit of advanced theological degrees. The MDiv prepares you for ordination in numerous denominations, as well as for leadership positions in parachurch ministries and educational institutions. This is a 144-unit program, comprised of the following:

* Biblical Languages (20 units)
* Biblical Studies (32 units)
* Theology / Church History (32 units)
* Ministry (36 units)
* African American Studies Concentration (24 Units)
