Reinstatement and Post-Graduate Students
School of Mission and Theology (SMT) inactive students who wish to resume studies in one of the following Fuller programs or statuses may be eligible to apply for reinstatement: Doctor of Ministry, Doctor of Global Leadership, Master of Divinity, MA in Theological Studies (formerly MA in Theology), MA in Theology and Ministry, MA in Global Missional Leadership (formerly MA in Intercultural Studies), MA in Ministry Leadership*, Certificate in Church Planting, and Unclassified studies. Reinstatement is available only to former Fuller students who have successfully completed (with a passing grade) at least one Fuller Seminary course in the past ten years but have not completed a course at Fuller in the past year (prior four quarters). To apply for reinstatement to a program other than those listed above, contact the Admissions Office for details.

Graduates of one of Fuller's master's degree programs who have not completed a course at Fuller in the past year (prior four quarters) may apply for Postgraduate Studies to take additional master's level coursework. Fuller master's level program graduates who have taken coursework at Fuller in the past year (prior four quarters) may contact the Academic Advising Office to request postgraduate status and do not need to submit an application for admission.

- Applicants who have not applied to Fuller in the past six months will need to create a new application by going to apply.fuller.edu. If you have any questions about how to apply, please contact [email protected].
- Reference Forms
References are not necessarily required for reinstatement applications, but may be requested at the discretion of the admissions committee. - Essay Responses
Once you have completed the Application for Admission, you will be prompted to upload and submit your essay responses to the following questions into the application portal.- Reinstatement Application Essay(s):
- Required: In 250-350 words, respond to the following three questions: 1) Since last applying to the program, are there any significant changes in your circumstances (church affiliation, sense of calling or Christian faith, finances) that will inform your approach to your further studies? 2) Have you experienced any shifts in the support (moral, spiritual, financial, etc.) you will receive from others that could impact your program? 3) Articulate any changes you hope to make in your studies going forward and state your anticipated timeline for completing your degree program.
- Optional: Given what you know now with your prior experience taking Fuller coursework, what one thing might Fuller provide to help you succeed in your study goals? (Your response will be shared with your assigned academic advisor at a later date.)

- Application Fee
- Applicants eligible to apply for reinstatement or postgraduate status are not required to pay an application fee.Â
- English Language Requirements
- If your native language is not English, an updated TOEFL or IELTS score may be required if your original score is more than 2 years old
* MA in Ministry Leadership (MAML): Previously admitted MA in Ministry Leadership (Young Life) students whose student status has become inactive may follow a simplified process to apply for reinstatement if they have successfully completed at least one academic course at Fuller in the past five years (as a MAML student), have a cumulative Fuller GPA above 2.5, and are currently serving as Young Life staff. This process does not require the submission of additional references or essays. Official transcripts are only required if an applicant has completed coursework from another institution since last applying to Fuller Theological Seminary.

NOTIFICATION
Applicants are notified of admission decisions, in most cases, around four weeks following the completion of an application file. Some programs require that an enrollment deposit be paid within 30 days of notification of acceptance. The enrollment deposit will be applied toward the first quarter's tuition and is nonrefundable.
