William E. Pannell Center for Black Church Studies
"We are the church. We are the community. We are the culture."
Fuller Seminary is committed to equipping leaders who share Christ’s hope and healing in the church and the world. The William E. Pannell Center for Black Church Studies equips leaders who share Christ’s hope and healing in and from the Black church, community, and culture. In order to accomplish this vision, the Pannell Center embraces a three-fold approach: equipping students, equipping learners, and equipping listeners. This approach allows our research, resources, and relationships to be in constant dialogue with one another for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Upcoming DMIN Cohort
Leaders in historically Black churches and African American contexts are facing significant challenges, with changing roles for pastors and the rise of bi-vocational leadership, while non-pastoral leaders are also playing crucial roles. The Now & Next Cohort, a three-year Doctor of Ministry program launching in fall 2025, aims to address these issues by examining ministry from an intergenerational and prophetic perspective, with a focus on discipleship, community, and cultural engagement.
