Jesus and the Disinherited: The Framework for the Dream

January 18–20, 2023

Please join the William E. Pannell Center for Black Church Studies for our 2023 celebration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The theme for this year’s 2023 MLKJ Celebration is taken from Howard Thurman’s phenomenal work, Jesus and the Disinherited. Thurman teaches us what it means to find our voice in a world of oppression and be guided by an ethic of love. This book was known to be influential during Dr. King’s own journey throughout the Civil Rights Movement. The Pannell Center has dedicated three days to reflect on the legacy of Dr. King and our responsibility as a community to care for the marginalized and oppressed.

The MLKJ Celebration Worship Service will feature gospel recording artist DOE, Black-owned food trucks, and more! To learn more about program participants and view the event schedule, visit fuller.edu/mlk.
