About Philip

Philip Richard Sundaram is an ordained minister of the Church of South India, Diocese of Madras, and was born and raised in India. His spiritual journey was shaped by a strong Christian heritage and the lived struggles of his community, which nurtured in him a passion for ministry, compassion for the marginalized, and dedication to the gospel.

He graduated in Science and Computers from Madras Christian College, Chennai, earned his BD from TTS, Madurai, and also completed his Master’s degree in theology, both in India and the United States. His academic interests include Dalit theology, trauma, mission, and Black studies. His research aims to amplify marginalized voices while developing a theology of mission that is both liberating and faithful to the biblical witness.

He is joyfully married to Priya, who has been a constant source of encouragement and partnership in ministry. Together, they are blessed with a son, Jerry Hadriel Magiban, who continues to bring joy to their family.
